Basil Argento, MA, LPC, NCC is a humanistic, fiercely social justice-oriented psychotherapist who feels privileged to be able to serve the transgender community of which he is a member. He is nonjudgmental, empathetic and insightful. Basil sees himself as an advocate for his clients and as a collaborator in improving their lives. Basil believes that frank, nonjudgmental support– along with mindfulness and self-acceptance– can help ease the process of unlearning past behavior and replacing it with more skillful, successful behavior. Issues of gender identity, sexuality, self-esteem, anxiety and living authentically are close to his heart. Basil is a queer Italian-American transgender man who began his steps towards transition over 20 years ago. Basil successfully sued the Ohio Department of Health over their discriminatory birth certificate policy.

Ravenhope is named in memory of Basil's son, Octavian Argento, who passed away in 2019. Octavian was a talented and fiercely individualistic artist. Like Basil, he was also a trans guy. Octavian was a big fan of Poe's work, particularly of The Raven. When Basil sees ravens flying through the sky or hears them calling, he considers it a sign and receives some small comfort.
